The future of trading, available now

From the decades in finance and trading, Jan knew that institutional investors increasingly face two major problems (among others): diversification and market impact. It gets increasingly difficult to diversify assets as institutionals manage dozens of billions and when they enter and exit markets, position sizes are so large that they move markets against themselves. There must be a way to solve these two pains.

Ever since discovering AI in high school, Vinzenz has been fascinated by it. Tinkering at home, learning as much as he can about AI, he came to realize that almost any problem can be solved with AI. So the next step was obvious: solve these quite solvable problems for institutional investors using AI.

We had to come up with a name. We wanted to do automated trading, with a scientific approach. We are not emotionally invested in strategies (only our client's success) and want to be driven by data. What encapsulates that? A laboratory. We don't use petri dishes or flasks but we are cooking up a whole strategy zoo of profitable strategies. 👨‍🔬 That's how the name came about: automated trad[e]ing laboratories.

Incorporation was a hurdle (German bureaucracy...) we have taken, as is developing the automated trading platform. We can now optimize, execute, and monitor trading strategies, automated. Seeing the first backtest complete was a big moment, and it only made us more certain we will succeed when we saw the first profitable backtest, the first parameter optimization complete, dashboards go up, and that we grow as a team and individually.

And there is much, much more to come. We can already execute our strategies on dozens of markets, which will turn into hundreds of markets. We are doing parameter optimization, and will soon begin live trading with our own money.
